Hong Kong Notary Public’s Seal
A Hong Kong Notary Public identifies himself/ herself on documents by the use of individual seal and signature. Such seals have historical origins and are regarded by most other countries as of great importance for establishing the genuineness of a document. A Hong Kong Notary Public's seal and signature is registered with the Hong Kong High Court and with many foreign consulates in Hong Kong.
Some receiving authorities of the notarized documents may require the documents signed and affixed with the seal of Hong Kong Notary Public to be Apostille and/ or Legalized by their consulate in Hong Kong.
The procedure of legalization is to verify the identity, signature and seal of the Hong Kong Notary Public by the relevant state’s or territory’s diplomatic representative in Hong Kong. Legalization can be replaced by Apostille for states or territories which are members of Hague Apostille Convention.
