What is Cyberbullying?
Cyberbullying generally refers to repeated physical or mental harassment through information and communication technology platforms or systems like social media, online forum, instant messaging, or SMS text messages or websites.
Forms of Cyberbullying
It usually takes the following forms:
Unpleasant, insulting or even life threatening messages, photographs, video clips and audio files are sent out by an individual or group targeting another person or persons with intent to harm. It can also involve false accusations, threats, identity theft, damage to data or equipment, solicitation for sex, gathering information in order to harass, or sharing images of a person in an embarrassing situation without their consent.
Cyberbullies may even impersonate their targets and set up website accounts in the target/victim’s name to make negative comments about the victim’s friends on social networking sites or in chat rooms.
